JAKARTA (12 May 2011) – Agum Gumelar have made an official request to FIFA to change several members of the Normalisation Committee.
Agum, the chairman of the Normalisation Committee, said that at the moment there seems to be a lost in direction for five of the members whom he feels are part of the party of 78.
The party of 78 is the so-called ‘Reform Group’ within PSSI (FA of Indonesia) who are fighting for the inclusion of George Toisutta and Arifin Panigoro for the 20 May election even though the two have been banned by FIFA.
The five members which Agum have reported to FIFA are Sukawi Sutarip (Jawa Tengah), Siti Nuzanah (Arema), Samsul Ashar (Persik Kediri), H. Satim Sofyan (Banten) and Dityo Pramono (PSPS Pekanbaru).
Agum has submitted six new names instead to FIFA.
“Their attitude seems to have changed of late. When I ask for a meeting, their response has not been very positive. I have been very patient and accommodating but it is time I take a sterner stance” said Agum.
“I have to take this course to FIFA as the five persons concerned can no longer be relied on to work together to FIFA’s instruction. From the six names which I’ve submitted, I dare say that they are all nationalists and have only the best interest of Indonesian football at heart.”
Agum also revealed that Thierry Regenass, FIFA’s director for Membership and Association Development, had actually asked for a change in the members of the Normalisation Committee two weeks ago.
But Agum resisted where he felt that the five members concerned can still change.
“I believe that for the moment, we have the absolute cooperation from Joko (Driyono) and Hadi Rudiatmo which means that we have three members who are determined to follow FIFA. And if FIFA feel that the Normalisation Committee only need five members, then they only need to pick two from the list of six which I’ve submitted,” added Agum.
