BANGKOK (18 Sept 2008) – Thailand will begin their preparation for the AFF Suzuki Cup 2008 by taking part in the Agribank Cup in Hanoi in October.
Following the appointment of former England international Peter Reid as the new national coach of Thailand, the 2006 losing finalists will start their preparation for the biennial championship immediately after the conclusion of the Thailand Premier League 2008 early next month. The Agribank Cup is a quadrangular tournament featuring hosts Vietnam, New Zealand and a soon to be announced European side. A total of 30 players will be expected to be called up for centralised training as the Thais hope to win their fourth crown. For the AFF Suzuki Cup this year, hosts Thailand will be in Group B against Malaysia, Vietnam and the first team from the qualifying tournament in Cambodia. In Group A are hosts Indonesia, Singapore, Myanmar and the second team from the qualifiers. |
