HO CHI MINH CITY (15 Sept 2012) – Following the second match day of Group A of the AFF Women’s Championship 2012, the stage is set for Myanmar to take on hosts Vietnam for the right to win the group for a better chance in the semi-finals of the meet this year.
Vietnam beat the Philippines 4-2 in the first game while later in the evening Myanmar – the losing finalists two years ago – blanked Singapore 11-0.
It was always going to be one way street against Singapore and the confident Myanmar side made sure they did better than the ten goals Vietnam piled against the hapless Singaporeanss.
Khin Moe Wai was the toast for Myanmar when she grabbed a hat-trick, finding the back of the net in the 6th, 13th and 58th minute. Three players players scored a brace and they were San San Maw (24th and 44th minute), Nilar Myint (19th and 41st minute) and Yee Yee Oo (45th and 69th minute).
The remainder of the goals were scored by an own goal from Shida Baker in the 81st minute and then Thidar Oo three minutes to the end.
With the win, Myanmar currently top the group on better goal difference with Vietnam on second. Philippines are third with Singapore anchoring Group A.
