YANGON (8 Sept 2012) – In preparation for the AFF Women’s Championship which kicks off on 13 September in Ho Chi Minh City, the Myanmar national women’s football team has left for Japan for a series of friendly matches.
The team, which emerged as the runners-up team at the last tournament in Laos last year, has been pegged to play three games against clubs from the Japanese Women’s Football League. They had already conceded a 5-0 loss in the first friendly.
In the meantime the Vietnamese women’s team, who failed to advance beyond the semi-finals stage the last time, are already in China since 31 August for a series of friendlies with the hope to sharpen their competitive edge.
