HANOI (20 Aug 2011) – Vietnam have included Russian-born goalkeeper Dang Van Lam in their national Under-19 team for the ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) U19 Championship which will be held in Myanmar on 8-21 September 2011.
Van Lam, towering at 1.86m, recently signed for Hoang Anh Gia Lai’s (HAGL) youth team – following stints at Spartak Moscow’s football academy and Dynamo Moscow.
Earlier this year, Van Lam signed a three year contract with HAGL.
“I’m very honoured to play for the national team. I hope to have success at the AFF U19 Championship,” said Lam.
“I decided to sign for Hoang Anh Gia Lai after a suggestion made by my father, and I think I’ve found a good place to play for the next three years.
The Vietnam national U19 team, who has been in training in Hanoi for the past week, has been drawn in Group B against Laos, Indonesia, Brunei and hosts Myanmar.
In Group A are Thailand, Singapore, the Philippines, Malaysia and Cambodia.
