BANGKOK (22 August 2014) – Striker Nilar Win scored a personal best when she blasted twelve goals enroute to Myanmar’s 16-0 win over Timor Leste in the AFF Under-19 Women’s Championship here at the Rajamangala Stadium.
“We need to be at our best for all the matches, so we decided against resting our best players,” said Myanmar coach Win Myint Thwin. “With the big game (against Vietnam coming up), the players will need to be sharp.
“It was certainly a god outing today and the 16 goals certainly showed that we are on the right track.”
For Timor, they certainly tried hard at the start where they defended well up until the 20th minute when they lost keeper Nedia Costa to a bad clash. That shook their defensive line somewhat and just eight minutes later, they conceded the first goal when Nilar opened account from inside the box.
From then on, there was no way back from Timor as Nilar piled on the goals in the 31st, 32nd, 35th, 47th, 52nd, 54th, 56th, 73rd, 80th, 84th and 86th minute.
The other goal scorers for Myanmar were May Sabai Phoo in the 45th minute, Theint Ko Ko (50th), Wai Zin Hnin (79th), Kay Zin Myint (90th).
“We knew that it will be another difficult afternoon, but the girls need to go through this process,” added Timor coach Gaspar da Silva.
