SURABAYA (12 Sept 2013) – Hosts Indonesia won their second consecutive match tonight to stay on course for a place in the next round of AFF Under-19 Championship.
At the Petrokimia Gresik Stadium, Indonesia edged Myanmar 2-1 to maintain their top spot in Group B.
Evan Dimas took the pressure of Indonesia when he scored after only seven minutes. Some ten minutes on, the crowd were on their feet again when Putu Gede Juti doubled the score.
But the celebrations quickly died down when Aung Nyen Chan broke through to score in the very next minute. Indonesia worked hard to increase their lead but all their efforts were thwarted by an alert Myanmar defence.
With the win, Indonesia have six points, similar to Vietnam who had earlier today defeated Malaysia 1-0. Indonesia however top the standings on better goal difference.
Thailand moved up into third spot with four points after whipping Brunei 8-0 this afternoon.
RESULTS – Group B
Vietnam 1 Malaysia 0
Thailand 8 Brunei 0
Indonesia 2 Myanmar 1
