SURABAYA (2 Aug 2018) – Both stadia of Joko Samudro and also Delta Sidoarjo here at the on-going AFF Under-16 Championship will see heightened security as the AFF and the Local Organising Committee look to prevent any untoward incidences.
Following Monday’s outbursts from the local fans on the Malaysian team and with the tournament picking up pace over the next several days with crucial matches in the group, police presence will be stepped up.
Two days ago at the Myanmar-Indonesia clash at Delta Sidoarjo, at least 400 persons from the Republic of Indonesia Police Force and also private security firms were making their presence felt alongside canine units.
More security will be provided for tonight’s big match between hosts Indonesia and Vietnam at the Delta Sidoarjo to ensure that fans properly do not get unruly – no matter what is the outcome.
Over at Joko Samudro, either wings of the main grandstand have already been cordoned off by security to ensure that no fans or anyone will get to sit within throwing distant of the pitch.
This will ensure the safety of the young players and also officials at the bench.
Today’s match will see Timor Leste taking on Cambodia while tomorrow will see the two matches from Group B being played out.
And that includes the matches between Thailand and Singapore in the first tie and then Malaysia playing Brunei DS in the second encounter.
