BANGKOK (13 Dec 2014) – With just days to go to the first final match of the AFF Suzuki Cup 2014, the FA of Thailand (FAT) have just upped the ante by offering the team a total of THB23 million (USD 701,000) should they win the title this year.
And that does not include the USD 200,00 prize money that is being given to the winning team.
The losing finalists in 2012 will take on Malaysia in the first leg final of the AFF Suzuki Cup at the Rajamangala Stadium on 17 Dec with the return tie to be played three days later in Kuala Lumpur.
And with confidence running high in the Thai camp led by the talismanic Kiatisak Senamuang, the FAT are all eager to make sure that the AFF Suzuki Cup return to Bangkok after a 12-year lapse.
The three-time champion in the inaugural year in 1996 to be followed by back to back titles in 2000 and also 2002, is on the upswing following the appointment of Kiatisak at the helm.
The team is built around the side that won the SEA Games in Myanmar last year and who also had a good showing at the Asian Games in South Korea a few months ago when they finished as the semi-finalists.
