BANGKOK (11 July 2012) – Hosts Myanmar will open their campaign in the qualifying round of the AFF Suzuki Cup 2012 by taking on Brunei on 5 Oct 2012 at the Youth Training Centre in Yangon.
Following the official draw ceremony of the AFF Suzuki Cup this afternoon in Bangkok, the five teams playing in the qualifiers were slotted into the respective round-robin positions with the first game on the first match day seeing Cambodia taking on Timor Leste.
The Myanmar-Brunei game will be the second game of the day.
The other team playing in the qualifiers – where two teams will make the grade to the final round in Malaysia and Thailand – is Laos. The qualifiers will be on 5-13 Oct 2012.
“Our aim is of course to win our place in the final round,” quipped U Zaw Zaw, the president of the Myanmar Football Federation (MFF) afterwards.
