SIDOARJO (14 Sept 2014) – Indonesia began their preparation for the AFF Suzuki Cup with a crushing 2-0 win over Malaysia tonight at the Gelora Delta Sidoarjo Stadium.
After absorbing much of the Malaysian offensive in the first half, hosts Indonesian finally came alive after the breather where off a cross from Rizky Ripora, defender Muslim Ahmad turned the ball into his own net.
The homesters grew in confidence and they went on the onslaught as the Malaysians grew eager to at least grab an equaliser from this tie away from home.
But a minute to the end, Tony Sucipto made an inch perfect cross that was headed into the Malaysian goal by Samsul Arif.
“We wanted to win this match. So did Malaysia. It is a good start to our preparation for the AFF Suzuki Cup,” said assistant coach Widodo Cahyono Putro.
