HANOI (1 Dec 2014) – Vietnam top hitman Le Cong Vinh said this week that he will be even better in the semi-finals where they have been slated to take on Malaysia.
The 2008 champions Vietnam will play Malaysia – the 2010 champions – on 7 Dec at the National Stadium in Bukit Jalil before the return tie on 11 Dec in Hanoi.
“I’m feeling really good at the moment,” said the 28-year-old who plays for Binh Duong in the V-League. “After scoring two goals in the group stage, I feel that I’m getting the feel of the game back at the international level.
“I believe that I can be even better in the semi-finals. It will be tough against Malaysia, but I’m looking forward to it.”
Cong Vinh – the hero of 2008 – scored in the 2-2 draw against Indonesia after coming on as a second half substitute. That goal warrants his place in the starting line up against Laos which he also found the back of the net.
But in the final Group A match against the Philippines, he fired blanks in the team’s 3-1 win with the only highlight being the yellow card he picked up in the first half.
“I’m not too bothered whether I can get to start a match or otherwise. Of course I want to play but the final decision lies with the coach (Toshiya Miura).
“The important thing is that I play at 110% when the coach puts me in.”
