JAKARTA (8 Dec 2014) – The PSSI (FA of Indonesia) have ended their ties with Austrian coach Alfred Riedl following the latter’s failure to lead the Indonesian national side to the AFF Suzuki Cup crown this year.
The PSSI have opted not to renew Riedl’s contract which runs until the end of the year.
“It is confirmed that Riedl will no longer handle the national team,” said Joko Driyono, the general secretary of the PSSI this week.
Indonesia failed to make the cut into the next round of the AFF Suzuki Cup after holding Vietnam to a 2-2 draw, losing 4-0 to the Philippines and then beating Laos 5-1 in the group stage.
The PSSI are currently weighing the appointment of a new national coach.
