PETALING JAYA (22 July 2012) – ASEAN champions Malaysia have chosen Austria as their European training camp next month. The team will be in Vienna, the Austrian capital, on 4-15 August 2012.
The team under chief coach Datuk K. Rajagobal, is being prepared for the AFF Suzuki Cup 2012 where they are placed in Group B of the meet against Indonesia, Singapore and also the runners-up team from the qualifying round in October.
Group A are hosts Thailand, Vietnam, the Philippines and the winner of the qualifying round.
“In Austria, the national team will play two games against Austrian club sides and one match against a club from Hungary,” said Datuk Azzuddin Ahmad, the general secretary of the FA of Malaysia (FAM) last night.
Prior to their Austrian trip, the Malaysians will be up against Arsenal FC (on 24 July 2012) and Manchester City (on 30 July 2012).
It was also revealed that Malaysia will take on Vietnam and Hong Kong this September as part of their tune-up matches although the venue of the games have yet to be identified.
