JAKARTA (18 July 2008) – In an effort to bring the level of Referee Assessors in the Asean region to a higher level, a Referee Assessors’ course is being held to coincide with the on-going AFF Under-16 Youth Championships here in Jakarta.
A total of eight Referee Assessors from around the region have confirmed their participation for the course which began yesterday and which will end tomorrow. The course is being conducted by FIFA Referee Instructor Mohd Nazri Abdullah with the participants going through the theoretrical part of the course at the Kaisar Hotel while the practical will be held at the Stadion Lebak Bulus. “This U16 Championship will be the perfect venue to have this course as the participants will be exposed to both the theory and the practical aspects,” said Nazri. “We hope that the participants will gain valuable information from this course and that they will use it when they get back home.” The course began with ‘The Role and Responsibilities of the AFF Assessor’ and then ‘The Key Skills of Becoming a Quality AFF Assessor’ before group discussion and presentation. The participants then ended their first day yesterday with two matches at the Stadion Lebak Bulus when Indonesia took on Singapore while Malaysia played Bahrain in the second match. And this morning, the course participants covered “A Modern Approach to Assessing/ Identifying Talents” before moving on to “The New AFF Assessment Report Form: What are we looking for?’ Later in the afternoon, a subject on ‘Analysing match using the new report form (video)’ will be conducted before the group presentations. The course will end tomorrow with ‘What is our Role to Produce Quality Referee’ and then ‘A Professional Approach to Refereeing’. And shortly, after the ‘Assessors Commitment to the AFF’, the participants will then head to Stadion Lebak Bulus for the third/fourth match between Singapore and Malaysia and then the Grand Final between Bahrain and Australia. |
