Dushanbe, Tajikistan (20 Sept 2019) – Asean Football Federation President, Major General Khiev Sameth, paid an official visit to Central Asian Football Association President, Mr Rustam Emomali, here where they discussed enhancing the relationship between both regional bodies.
Mr Emomali, who was elected as the President of CAFA in May, expressed his happiness at the visit of the AFF President. The discussions also included the possibility of AFF and CAFA signing an MOU later.
“Our discussion covered various subject matters, among them fostering closer relations and development of the game in our regions. We agreed that working together will be beneficial to both our associations,” said Major General Sameth, who assumed the AFF President’s position in March this year.
This latest meeting with CAFA, which follows the signing of a strategic MOU with the Qatar FA in August, reflects Major General Sameth’s commitment to the AFF Member Associations to further develop and promote ASEAN football.
While in Dushanbe, Major General Sameth also met up with AFC President, His Excellency Shaikh Salman bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa. “His Excellency Shaikh Salman has been very supportive of the Regional Associations and our competitions and activities. I would like to express our thanks to AFC for their continuous support.”
