HANOI (10 Nov 2019) – The Football Association of Indonesia, for their untiring efforts and commitment to developing the game in the region, won the AFF Best Member Association Award at the AFF Awards ceremony here last night.
Over the past two years, the FA of Indonesia, thanks to strong leadership and committed Secretariat staff, have experienced significant management and technical improvements. “I would like to congratulate the FA of Indonesia for their exemplary efforts which resulted in them winning the award,” said AFF President Major General Khiev Sameth.
“Their management and administrative skills, and organisational abilities have not gone unnoticed. It’s no surprise that FIFA awarded Indonesia the host job for the Under-20 World Cup. I am confident Indonesia will be amazing hosts in 2021.”
Major General Sameth added: “I would like to thank the FA of Indonesia for their contribution, especially to AFF, over the years. They have always been among the first to step up and organise our competitions, including for the various age-groups.”
For the record, Indonesia hosted six events last year – the AFF Boys Under-16, AFF Boys Under-19, AFF Women’s Championship, AFF Girls Under-16, AFF Futsal and AFF Beach Soccer. Indonesia also successfully managed the Asian Games 2018 football competition which was one of the centrepieces of the multi-sports event.
In addition to organising more refereeing, administrative and coaching courses to enhance the abilities of their officials, there were also greater emphasis on youth football by the Football Association of Indonesia to raise the technical, physical and mental capabilities of their young players. Football aside, the association also contributed generously to the Lombok disaster.
