KUANTAN (3 April 2013) – His Royal Highness Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah, President of the ASEAN Football Federation (AFF), today announced the AFF would have a new home in the Malaysian administrative capital of Putrajaya.
Sultan Haji Ahmad revealed the good news in his opening address of the AFF 20th Ordinary Congress for the session 2011/2015 here this morning.
“I am pleased to announce we will have a new home in Putrajaya,” said Sultan Haji Ahmad, who added that the Malaysian government had allocated the land to the AFF.
AFF is presently sited in a double-storey house in Kelana Jaya located a few kilometres away from the FA of Malaysia (FAM). The new home for the AFF marks an important milestone in the history of the AFF which was first formed in 1984.
Sultan Haji Ahmad also revealed that the AFC has agreed that this year’s ASEAN Futsal Championship in Bangkok in October will be adopted as the qualifying competition for the AFC Futsal Championship 2014. Four teams from the ASEAN Futsal Championship will qualify for the AFC Futsal finals.
The AFF 20th Ordinary Congress this morning was immediately followed by the AFF 8th Council Meeting. The inaugural AFF Football Awards will be held here at the Hyatt Regency Kuantan later this evening.
