BANGKOK (22 Oct 2013) – Indonesia and Australia have set the stage to decide the Group A winner of the AFF Futsal Championship tomorrow where each certainly would like to avoid powerhouse Thailand – the expected winner from Group A – in the cross-over semi-finals on Friday.
As things stand, Australia are leading the pack in Group B with the same nine points as Indonesia from three matches played thus far. But Australia are at the top of the standings on better goal difference with 28 as against Indonesia’s 25.
With the results today being pure academic, Indonesia thrashed Laos 12-0 in the first match of the group in the morning before Australia beat Myanmar 4-0 in the second tie.
Striker Bambang Bayu Saptaji was once again the toast for Indonesia when he found the back of the net in the 1st, 2nd, 10th and 35th minute. A brace from Andriansyah Agustin (29th and 30th) and Fhandy Permana (38th and 40th) gave Indonesia further confidence as Nur Ali (19th), Anza Restuian Mas (26th), Renaldi (40th) and Julinur Hafid (40th) ensured them the win.
In the meantime, Myanmar fought well and hard to concede just a 4-0 loss to Australia.
The Australians scored all their goals in the first half through Shervin Adeli (8th and 8th) as Jarrod Basger (12th) and Gregeory Giovenali (19th) scored the other goals.
