NA PYI TAW (9 July 2016) – The leading futsal clubs in the Southeast Asian region will pull out all the stops in their quest for honours in the AFF Futsal Club Championship which kicks-off at the Sports Complex Indoor Stadium here tomorrow.
In this second edition of the club-level futsal championship, five men’s and five women’s teams will deliver their best in the hope of being crowned the regional champions when the tournament ends on July 16.
The five teams in the men’s division are Thaiport FC (Tha), Black Steel (Ina), MIC FC (Ina), Thai Son Nam FC (Vie) and Lanexang United FC (Lao). The women will be represented by Thai Son Nam District & FC (Vie), Khon Kaen (Tha), Bangkok FC (Tha), Jaya Kencana Angels ( Ina) and W FC (Mya).
All attention will be focused on the reigning champions – Thaiport FC (men) and Thai Son Nam District & FC (women) – when the competition gets underway tomorrow morning.
The Thai champions have the benefit of watching their rivals in action tomorrow before playing their opening match the following day (on Monday) against Vietnam’s Thai Son Nam FC.
Local club, MIC FC, which finished third in last year’s inaugural AFF Futsal Club, will also be aiming to improve on their performance this year, especially since they are playing at homre. MIC FC open their campaign this year with an interesting battled against Indonesian’s Black Steel tomorrow afternoon.
Reigning women’s winners, Thai Son Nam District & FC from Vietnam will also have a break tomorrow before playing their opening game against Indonesia’s Jaya Kencana Angels on Monday morning.
