BANGKOK (26 Nov 2015) – Asian Scholars hope of a place in the final of the AFF Bangkok Futsal Club Championship 2015 is in jeopardy following their disappointing 3-3 draw against defending champions Thai Son Nam FC this evening.
Following their unexpected loss to Dural Warriors yesterday, the Thai side needed to beat Thai Son Nam to improve their chances of playing in the final of the championship this year.
But it was always going to be a handful as Thai Son Nam had been on a roll in their first three matches slotting home a total of 13 goals in the process.
And after some patient play, Do Thi Nguyen duly gave Thai Son Nam the s lead in the 12 minute with a wonderful lob that had Asian Scholar keeper Nattaruja Muthtanawech well beaten.
Nguyen Thi Thanh then doubled the lead for Thai Son Nam in the 13th minute as Thai international Orathai Srimanee then nailed the first of her three goals two minutes later.
Trinh Ngoc Hoa made sure that Thai Son Nam go into the breather on the up with the third goal on 16 minute as Asian Scholars were left to regroup and rethink their strategy for the second half.
A bad clash on the nippy Ngoc Hoa stuttered the confidence on Thai Son Nam as Orathai Srimanee then pulled up with the second goal after 24 minute.
She then completed her hat-trick in the 36th minute off power play but that it was not enough for them to secure the full points as they will not have to wait and see what happens in the final match day of the round robin tomorrow.
Asian Scholars will have to beat ACE FC while at the same time hope that the Felda women’s team do them a favour by beating Dural Warriors.
IN THE MEANTIME, the Felda women’s team made sure that they make the next round of the championship when they edged ACE FC of Myanmar 3-1 in a pulsating tie at the Bangkok Arena here in Nong Chok.
Eager to avoid the wooden-spoonist tag in the meet so as to avoid the earlier return flight home, Felda were all business on the day as they took the lessons from their last few matches to good effect.
Norhawa Mohd Yasin slammed home the lead after just three minutes before Noor Asyikin Mohamad Noor slid home the second goal with a minute left of the first half.
Farahiyah Muhammad Ridzuan then gave Felda their third goal of the game in the 27th minute as ACE FC replied with a late strike from Khin Mar Lin five minutes to the end.
