BANGKOK (21 Oct 2013) – Australia and Indonesia were the big winners in Group B this afternoon when they thumped their hapless opponents by at least a dozen goals in their respective matches.
Australia blasted Laos 17-0 while Indonesia slammed Timor Leste 12-1 in the two games at the Bangkok Thonburi University Stadium. Adam Stuart Cooper found the back of the net four times in the 10th, 12th, 14th and 15th minute as Daniel Fogarty grabbed a hat-trick off goals in the 25th, 39th and 40th minute.
The other goal scorers for the Australians were Jarrod Basger (3rd and 27th), Gregory Giovenali (31st), Shervin Adeli (35th), Wade Giovenali (23rd), Marino Musumeci (17th and 35th), Dean Lockhart (38th) and Raymond Miller (33rd and 36th).
On the other hand, Indonesia showed that they are one of the teams to watch when they demolished Timor Leste 12-1 with Anza Restuian Mas scoring five goals when he found the back the back of the net in the 1st, 12th, 12th, 13th and 32nd minute.
“It was a much better performance for sure,” said Indonesian coach Andri Irawan. “But we still made some mistakes here and there. Obviously, this is something which we need to improve.”
And while Timor Leste managed to pull a goal back in the 17th minute through Moises De Jesus, there was no stopping Indonesia from scoring further goals through Andri Kustiawan (14th and 22nd minute), Andriansyah (37th), Ardy Suwardy (38th), Syahidansyah (13th), Nur Ali (25th) and Bambang Saptaji (8th).
