PHNOM PENH (9 Aug 2015) – Australia took third spot in the AFF BIDC Under-16 Championship when they hit Laos 10-2 in the classification match that was played this afternoon at the National Olympic Stadium.
Laos tried to make a game of it with a brace from Xayyaphone Sengsavang in the 41st and 44th minute but Australia were just a little more motivated as they piled on the goals off John Roberts’ penalty in the 15th minute and then Lachlach Brook (21st), Ahmed Sweedan (43rd) and Rahmat Akbiri (45th) for them to be 4-2 in front.
It was all Australia into the second half as Roberts (54th and 77th minute), Marc Moric (70th and 80th) and Rahmat (78th and 89th) then completed the rout.
