BANGKOK (Jan 21, 2007) – Thailand skipper Kiatisuk Senamuang is elated to be leading his team to his former base of Vietnam for the first leg of their Asean Football Championship semi-finals this Wednesday.
Kiatisuk used to play for Hoang Anh-Gia Lai FC and was promoted to player-coach during his stint in the V-League. He said that he has only victory in mind for the Thai national side as they prepare for the clash at the My Dinh Stadium in Hanoi. ”This match will be like going back to my second home,” said the veteran striker to the Bangkok Post. ”I will do my best to help the national team reach the final for the fourth time. ”I am pleased with my fitness and performance and just want to concentrate on this competition.” However, he admitted that he will be expecting a tough game. ”It will not be an easy match for us because we have to play away from home,” said the skipper. ”We must get at least a point back but three points would be a big prize and make the second leg at home much easier. ”We know they will want to win.” Head coach Charnwit Phalajivin added: ”our team is getting better and every player is training very hard for the semi-finals. ”The FA of Thailand (FAT) has allowed us to take all 25 players for the trip in case we need to make any changes. ”The hostile atmosphere in Hanoi will add pressure but if we can control ourselves then it should be an exciting game.” Injured Nirut Surasiang has started jogging again while Datsakorn Thonglao is back in training after suffering a back problem. |
