PHNOM PENH (28 Feb, 2008) – Khemara Keila FC progressed into the next round of the Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Decho Hun Sen Cup 2008 when they whitewashed Sihanouk Ville FC 8-0 in the match that was played at the National Olympic Stadium.
Khemara, who are playing in the upper division of the Cambodian Premier League, had little difficulty in disposing off their lesser opponents when they raced to a 4-0 lead at the break off goals from Kuoch So KomPhiak (28th and 42nd minute), Ty Bun Vichet (31st minute) and Ung Kan Yanith (37th minute). They then added four goals after the restart as Kuoch completed his hat-trick with his third goal in the 88th minute and further goals from Ty Bun (88th minute), Loch Ratha (83rd minute) and Akpueze Kenneth (85th minute). In the other match of the day, Royal Sword FC made short work of Phuchung Neak FC 4-1 to join Khemara in the next round of the championship this year. But it almost did not come the way of Royal Sword when at the break, both teams were tied 1-1 following Koua Mpoko opportunistic 22nd minute strike for Phuchung to cancel our Egbebuey Stanley’s earlier 16th minute lead for the home team. However, after Khuon La Poravy had restored the lead for Royal Sword in the 51st minute, an own goal from Tuy Sam swung the balance further against them as Royal then guaranteed the win with their fourth goal and Egbebuey’s second of the afternoon in the 76th minute.
