SINGAPORE (24 June 2011) – Both the Singapore Under-15 and also the Singapore Under-16 teams have made the semi-finals of the 23rd Lion City Cup which will be played later today.
The Singapore U15 team lost 2-1 to Juventus FC while the Singapore U16 team drew 1-1 against the Everton U15 in their final group matches.
Juventus scored the lead in the 31st minute through Marra Andrea but an own goal from Juventus’ captain Guiducci Niccolo in the 61st minute put the score level.
Six minutes to the end, striker Gili Fabio knocked in the winner for the Italian side.
In the meantime, the Singapore U16 had to come back from a goal down before they were able to draw 1-1 against Everton FC U15.
Calum Dyson gave Everton the lead on 20 minutes but just two minutes later, the Singapore U16 fought back with the equaliser from Hazim Hassan.
With the draw, the Singapore U16 will take on Juventus U15 in the semi-finals while the Singapore U15 team will take on CR Flamengo U15.
