SINGAPORE (17 March 2012) – The FIFA Grassroots Pro-Active course which was conducted in Singapore by FIFA Instructor Samuel Schweingruber, drew to a close this week. The course was specially tailored for coaches who will be coaching the Under-8’s, Under-10’s and Under-12’s.
A FIFA Grassroots Festival was held in conjunction with the closing ceremony. A total of 400 kids attended the festival at the Jalan Besar Stadium.
The festival was conducted by 30 coaches, after which, the festival moved on to the Closing Ceremony, which was held at the NFA Conference Room.
Schweingruber was impressed with the progress FAS had undertaken for the past two years in increasing the number of JCOE centres in Singapore. With this extended reach, this ensured more participation from more kids around the island.
“It is remarkable to see what the FAS have done and achieved. The association has diligently worked for youth development for the sport in Singapore, and they have also developed coaches in the right way,” said Schweingruber.
“I urge all the grassroots educators to go out and implement whatever they have learnt in their own organisations and communities. I am very happy to report to FIFA on the progress FAS have made so far, especially in the last two years.”
